A Minnesota community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jessi Pierce, a longtime hockey reporter, and her three young children after a devastating house fire claimed their lives in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. The tragedy has prompted an outpouring of grief from family, friends, colleagues, and fans across the hockey world, who remember Pierce as a dedicated journalist, a loving mother, and a person whose warmth touched everyone she met.
A Tragic Loss
Emergency crews responded to reports of a house fire in the early morning hours after neighbors saw flames coming through the roof of the family’s home. When firefighters arrived, the house was already heavily engulfed in flames.
After extinguishing the fire, responders discovered that Jessi Pierce, 37, and her three children—Hudson (8), Cayden (6), and Avery (4)—had died inside the home. The family’s dog also perished in the fire. Pierce’s husband, Mike Hinrichs, was away on a work trip at the time of the tragedy. Authorities have said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and preliminary findings have not indicated that it was intentionally set.
