U.S. Navy Concludes Search for Missing Sailor After MH-60S Helicopter Emergency Landing in Arabian Sea

The U.S. Navy has announced that it has suspended its active search for a sailor who went missing after an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter made an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea. The decision came after an extensive search-and-rescue operation lasting more than 102 hours and covering over 14,000 square miles of ocean.

The incident occurred on July 1, when an MH-60S Sea Hawk assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 5 experienced an emergency that forced the aircraft to land in the Arabian Sea while operating with the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77).

There were four crew members aboard the helicopter. Three were rescued and recovered in stable condition, while one sailor could not be located despite immediate rescue efforts. Officials said there was no indication that hostile action caused the emergency landing, and the cause remains under investigation.
