This Isn’t the First Time
The Correspondents’ Dinner look may have drawn the most attention, but it fits a pattern that Jennifer has apparently been building for a while.

When Pete was sworn in as the 29th U.S. Secretary of Defense on January 25, 2025, Jennifer showed up in a long-sleeve lilac ensemble. A comparable dress currently sits on Shein for around $32.92.

At a state dinner last November, she stepped out in an emerald floor-length off-the-shoulder gown with colorful patterns. A similar style is listed on the same retailer for roughly $76.29.

Going back even further, a June 2024 Instagram post showed Jennifer in a white wrap dress printed with blue palm leaves, standing alongside Pete and Donald Trump. A nearly identical outfit can be found on Shein for around $16.95.

But whether these dresses are actually from these kinds of stores remains to be seen. Either way, they look fantastic on her. Unfortunately, Jennifer and her husband didn’t get to enjoy the evening they had gotten so dressed up for.

A Recap of Saturday’s Incident
In case you missed it, the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC, turned into chaos when an armed man stormed a security checkpoint, sending attendees diving for cover and Secret Service agents into emergency mode.

The president and First Lady Melania Trump were “whisked away” in the commotion, and the president later admitted he had no idea how serious the situation was at first. “I thought it was a tray that clattered on the ground,” he told reporters at a hastily organized press conference at the White House afterward.

President Trump said he and his team had no prior warning of any threat. “We wanted to stay tonight,” he added. “I fought like hell to stay.”

The incident unfolded at approximately 8:35 p.m. ET, when shots were heard inside the Washington Hilton, and guests scrambled for safety. Shortly after, Secret Service agents rushed to President Trump and escorted him and Cabinet members out of the room.

Among the witnesses: CNN’s own Wolf Blitzer, who was standing outside the ballroom when he saw a gunman open fire just a few feet away. He was among dozens of attendees who took cover as law enforcement swarmed the scene.

One US Secret Service agent was shot and struck while wearing protective gear. The agent was hospitalized, though President Trump later said he personally spoke with them and they are in “great shape” thanks to their bulletproof vest. According to DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, no one else was injured.

At 9:17 p.m., President Trump made his first public comments, posting on Truth Social that the alleged gunman “has been apprehended.” He followed that up at 10:29 p.m. with footage that appeared to show the start of the shooting, along with a photograph of the suspect face-down on the ground, hands behind his back.
