Actor Donald Sutherland has died at 88 years old.
“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” the post read alongside a photo of the father and son.
“I personally think (he was) one of the most important actors in the history of film,” his online tribute continued. “Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.”
With a career spanning 60 years, Sutherland got his start in television, but his big break in film came in the 1967 World War II drama “The Dirty Dozen.” His next major role was in the movie “M.A.S.H.” followed by the 1971 crime drama “Klute.”
Sutherland met actress Jane Fonda on the set of “Klute,” they ended up having a three-year-long relationship at the end of his second marriage.
