Field has been speaking openly about aging for years. Back in 2016, while promoting “Hello, My Name Is Doris,” the actress addressed public reactions to her onscreen appearance and the bizarre idea that simply looking one’s age could somehow be considered courageous in Hollywood.

She said it was unfortunate that looking natural was often labeled “brave.” Field also made it clear that she viewed aging not as something to hide, but something she had earned through decades of life experience. “I’ve gathered strength behind my years,” she added at the time. “I owned them, I’ve earned them, I’ve deserved them.”
